The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
