Nay! By the moon 32 By the receding night 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 a warning to humans, 36 to everyone of you, whether he chooses to come forward or to hang back! 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 About the criminals, 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Nay, everyone of them desires that he should be given pages spread out (coming from Allah with a writing that Islam is the right religion, and Muhammad SAW has come with the truth from Allah the Lord of the heavens and earth, etc.). 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
