۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 No indeed; but today they resign themselves in submission 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 and so we became deserving of the Word of our Lord that we shall be made to suffer chastisement. 31 "We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray." 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant 35 And they said: are we going to abandon our gods on account of a poet distracted? 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 and not be recompensed, except according to what you were doing.' 39 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 Fruits, and they shall be highly honored, 42 in gardens of bliss, 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 Cups of wine will be presented to them in rounds, from a spring flowing in front of them. 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 no headiness will be in it, and they will not get drunk thereon. 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 As though they were eggs hidden. 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be requited?" 53 He said (to others on the thrones), “Will you take a glimpse (into hell) below?” 54 He will look down and see him in hell. 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 But for my Lord's blessing, I were one of the arraigned. 57 (Allah informs about that true believer that he said): "Are we then not to die (any more)? 58 Save our first death, and are we not to be tormented? 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have appointed it as a trial for the evildoers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. 65 And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies. 66 then on top of it they have a brew of boiling water, 67 then their return is to Hell. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 yet they run in their footsteps, 70 Before them erred most of the ancients, 71 And verily We sent among them warners. 72 See how terrible was the end of those who were warned. 73 Save the bondmen of Allah sincere. 74
