Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In a Garden on high, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And cups put in place 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
