The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great news - 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
