۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 instead of God, and lead them all onto the way to the blazing fire, 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 We had no authority over you, in fact, you were a rebellious people. 30 Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 So they shall on that day be sharers in the chastisement one with another. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 And to say: What! shall we indeed give up our gods for the sake of a mad poet? 36 Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him). 37 (They will be told), "You will certainly suffer the painful torment 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 For them there is a known provision, 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 In Gardens of peace. 43 (Sitting) on couches, face to face, 44 Cups of wine will be presented to them in rounds, from a spring flowing in front of them. 45 White, delicious to those who drink. 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them will be mates of modest gaze, most beautiful of eye, 48 As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 And a speaker from among them will say: verily there was unto me a mate. 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'" 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 'By God', he said, 'you had almost ruined me. 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! 57 What, do we then not die 58 [again,] beyond our previous death, and that we shall never [again] be made to suffer? 59 Verily this is the supreme achievement! 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 So is this welcome better, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Verily We! We have made it a temptation for the wrong-doers. 63 Indeed it is a tree that sprouts from the base of hell. 64 Its crop is as it were the heads of devils 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 then on top of it they have a brew of boiling water, 67 then surely they shall return to Hell. 68 These are the ones who found their fathers steeped in error, 69 and they are running in their footsteps. 70 yet before them most of the ancients went astray, 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 Other than the chosen creatures of God. 74
