And We created not the heaven and the earth and all that is between them without purpose! That is the consideration of those who disbelieve! Then woe to those who disbelieve (in Islamic Monotheism) from the Fire! 27 Or shall We make those who believe and do righteous deeds as the workers of corruption in the earth, or shall We make the godfearing as the transgressors? 28 We have sent down a Book to you which is blessed, so that people may apply their minds to its revelations, and the men of wisdom may reflect. 29 We gave Solomon to David; and he was an excellent worshiper, he was penitent. 30 When they brought fleet-footed chargers in the evening to show him, 31 Therefore Sulaiman said, “I cherish the love of these horses*, out of remembrance of my Lord”; he then ordered them to be raced until they vanished in a curtain out of sight. (To be used in holy war.) 32 Bring them back to me' And he hacked their legs and necks (slaughtering them for Allah). 33 And verily We tried Solomon, and set upon his throne a (mere) body. Then did he repent. 34 He said: My Lord! Forgive me and bestow on me sovereignty such as shall not belong to any after me. Lo! Thou art the Bestower. 35 Then We subjected the wind to his power, so that it blew gently, at his behest, wherever he willed, 36 And [also] the devils [of jinn] - every builder and diver 37 And others fettered in chains. 38 [Saying of Allah to Sulaiman (Solomon)]: "This is Our gift, so spend you or withhold, no account will be asked." 39 And most surely he had a nearness to Us and an excellent resort. 40
