The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sky with its constellations, 1 And the promised day, 2 And the witness and the witnessed, 3 Cursed be the makers of the pit, 4 with fire abounding in fuel, 5 Lo! [With glee do] they contemplate that [fire,] 6 And to that which they did to the believers were witnesses. 7 And they persecuted them for naught save that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy 8 to whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and earth. And Allah is the Witness of all things. 9 Lo! they who persecute believing men and believing women and repent not, theirs verily will be the doom of hell, and theirs the doom of burning. 10 Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds will have gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great attainment. 11 The vengeance of God is terribly severe. 12 Verily, He it is Who begins (punishment) and repeats (punishment in the Hereafter) (or originates the creation of everything, and then repeats it on the Day of Resurrection). 13 And He only is the Oft Forgiving, the Beloved of His bondmen. 14 The Lord of the glorious Throne, 15 a sovereign doer of whatever He wills. 16 Have you not heard the story of the hosts 17 Of the Fir'awn and the Thamud? 18 Nay, but those who disbelieve live in denial 19 And Allah encompasses them from behind! (i.e. all their deeds are within His Knowledge, and He will requite them for their deeds). 20 But this is an honored Qur'an 21 in a guarded tablet. 22
