The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)

Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In gardens of delight; 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and a few from later times. 14 on lavish couches 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and spreading shade 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those on the right. 38

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
