The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
The Hour of Resurrection drew near and the moon split asunder. 1 Yet if they see a sign they turn away, and they say 'A continuous sorcery!' 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 They have certainly received the kind of news in which there is a lesson and strong words of wisdom, 4 Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]. 5 So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding, 6 they will come out of their graves, their eyes cast down, hastening towards their Summoner as locusts rushing about. 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ Before them the people of Nuh rejected, so they rejected Our servant and called (him) mad, and he was driven away. 9 So he prayed to his Lord: "I am helpless, deliver me." 10 So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth. 11 And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied. 14 And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 We indeed sent towards them a severe windstorm, on a day the ill luck of which lasted upon them forever. 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 22

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
