The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 like hidden pearls, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and spreading shade 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 and made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
