The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
