Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions lined up 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
