He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and fearfully, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
