The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they have been differing? 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
