The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful

CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 and is no idle tale. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17

God Almighty has spoken the truth.
