The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
