The chiefs of Pharaoh's people said, "This is most surely a skillful magician, 109 "He wants to get you out of your land, so what do you advise?" 110 Others said: 'Put them off a while, he and his brother, and send forth to your cities gatherers 111 who should bring to you every skillful magician." 112 And the wizards came to Pharaoh, saying: Surely there will be a reward for us if we are victors. 113 He said: Yes, and you shall certainly be of those who are near (to me). 114 The magicians asked Moses, "Will you throw your staff first or shall we?" 115 He said: Cast. So when they cast, they deceived the people's eyes and frightened them, and they produced a mighty enchantment. 116 And we revealed unto Musa: cast down thy rod. And lo! it was swallowing up that which they had feigned. 117 ۞ So the truth was proved and their works were disproved. 118 They were therefore defeated here and they turned back humiliated. 119 and the magicians flung themselves prostrate, 120 saying, "We declare our belief in the Lord of the Universe, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron.' 122 The Pharaoh said to the magicians, "You declared your belief in him (Moses) without my permission. This is a plot to throw my people out of their city. But you will soon know. 123 Surely I will cut off your hands and feet on the opposite sides and thereafter I will crucify you all. 124 They said: verily unto our Lord we are turning. 125 You would punish us only because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they were shown to us. Our Lord, pour patience upon us, and cause us to die in a state of submission to You." 126

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
