Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In a lofty garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 and couches raised high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
