The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
