The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water poured out 31 and abundant fruits, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
