Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
