The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain. 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. 3 And indeed there has come to them news (in this Quran) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil), 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 So turn away from them. When on the Day the crier calls to the painful business, 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied [the truth] before them. They belied Our messenger saying, "He is mad!" He was rebuffed, 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. 12 But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre: 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 We made (the story of Noah) as evidence of the Truth. However, is there anyone who would take heed? 15 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 16 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 17 'Ad also gave the lie (to Hud). So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
