Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O you who have wrapped up in your garments! 1 Stand up for worship during the night, except for some part of it. 2 of one-half thereof - or make it a little less than that, 3 Or a little more; and recite the Quran (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style. 4 Surely We will make to light upon you a weighty Word. 5 Verily the rising by night! it is most curbing and most conducive to right speech. 6 Surely you have in the day time a long occupation. 7 Remember the Name of your Lord and dedicate yourself devoutly to Him. 8 (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. 9 Bear with patience what they say, and gracefully come away from them. 10 Leave Me to deal with the deniers, lords of ease and comfort (in this life); and do thou respite them awhile. 11 Verily with Us are heavy fetters and Scorch. 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment, 13 On a day when the earth and the mountains will tremble, and the mountains turn into dunes of flowing sand. 14 We have indeed sent a Noble Messenger towards you, a present witness over you – the way We had sent a Noble Messenger towards Firaun. 15 In response Firaun disobeyed the Noble Messenger, so We seized him with a severe seizure. 16 If you, disbelieve, how will you be able to protect yourselves from the hardships of the day which would even turn children grey-headed? 17 Whereon the sky will be cleft asunder? His Promise needs must be accomplished. 18 Verily, this is an admonition, therefore whosoever will, let him take a Path to His Lord! 19
