In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

۞ Alif Lam Mim Suad. 1 A DIVINE WRIT has been bestowed from on high upon thee - and let there be no doubt about this in thy heart - in order that thou mayest warn [the erring] thereby, and [thus] admonish the believers: 2 Follow what has been sent down to you by your Lord and do not follow any protector other than Him. How seldom you take heed. 3 How many a township have We destroyed! As a raid by night, or while they slept at noon, Our terror came unto them. 4 and they but cried, when Our might came upon there, 'We were evildoers.'; 5 We will certainly question the people and the Messengers sent to them. 6 Then surely We will recount unto them with knowledge, and We have not been absent. 7 The weighing on that Day will be the true weighing: those whose scales are heavy will prosper. 8 And whosesoever balances will be light - those are they who have lost themselves in respect of Our signs. 9 We have made you inhabit the land and provided you with the means of sustenance. Only a few of you give thanks. 10
