Believers! Obey Allah and His Messenger and do not turn away from him after you hear his command. 20 Do not be like those who say: 'We hear' but they do not listen. 21 ۞ Surely the vilest of animals, in Allah's sight, are the deaf, the dumb, who do not understand. 22 Had they possessed any virtue, God would certainly have made them hear. Even if God were to make them hear, they would still turn away from (the words of God). 23 O believers, respond to the call of God and His Prophet when he calls you to what will give you life (and preservation). Remember that God intervenes between man and his heart, and that you will be gathered before Him. 24 And fear a trial which shall surely not smite in particular the evildoers among you; and know that God is terrible in retribution. 25 And remember when you were few, deemed weak in the land, fearing lest people might carry you off by force, but He sheltered you and strengthened you with His aid and gave you of the good things that you may give thanks. 26 O People who Believe! Do not betray Allah and His Noble Messenger, nor purposely defraud your trusts. 27 Know that your children and your wealth are but a temptation, and that the reward with Allah is great. 28
