Some of the Pharaoh's nobles considered him to be no more than a skillful magician 109 Who wants to expel you from your land [through magic], so what do you instruct?" 110 They said, “Stop him and his brother, and send announcers to the cities to gather people.” 111 to bring thee every cunning sorcerer.' 112 So there came the sorcerers to Pharaoh: They said, "of course we shall have a (suitable) reward if we win!" 113 He answered: Yes, and surely ye shall be of those brought near (to me). 114 They said: O Musa! either thou cast down, or we shall be the ones to cast down. 115 He said, "You throw [first]!" When they made their cast, they bewitched the eyes of the people and struck them with awe, for they showed a great [feat of] magic. 116 And we revealed unto Musa: cast down thy rod. And lo! it was swallowing up that which they had feigned. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and abolished was what they were doing. 118 So the (great ones) were vanquished there and then, and were made to look small. 119 And the sorcerers fell down prostrate. 120 And said: "We have come to believe in the Lord of all the worlds, 121 "The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Said Pharaoh: "Have you come to believe in him ere I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have cunningly devised in this [my] city in order to drive out its people hence! But in time you shall come to know, [my revenge]: 123 "Surely, I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, then I will crucify you all." 124 They said: verily unto our Lord we are turning. 125 “And what did you dislike in us, except that we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us? Our Lord! Pour (bestow abundantly) patience on us, and bestow us death as Muslims.” 126
