The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur'an. 1 Often will those who disbelieve wish that they had been Muslims. 2 Leave them to feast and revel, beguiled by hope; they will come to know soon. 3 And never have We destroyed any community [for its wrongdoing] unless a divine writ had [previously] been made known to it; 4 [but remember that] no community can ever forestall [the end of] its term - and neither can they delay [it]. 5 And they say, "O you upon whom the message has been sent down, indeed you are mad. 6 If you are a man of truth, why can't you bring the angels to us?" 7 We do not send angels except with the truth. Then they shall have no respite. 8 Lo! We, even We, reveal the Reminder, and lo! We verily are its Guardian. 9 We had also sent apostles to people of earlier persuasions. 10 and not a single Messenger came to them, but they mocked at him; 11 Even so we make a way for it in the hearts of the culprits. 12 they believe not in it, though the wont of the ancients is already gone. 13 Even if We open a door in the heavens and they ascend through it in broad daylight, 14 they would surely have said, "It is only our eyes that are spellbound! Nay, we have been bewitched! 15
