The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
