The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 Arise, and warn, 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And pollution shun. 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then looked he, 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
