Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 a warning to humans, 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 and they shall reply, "We were not among those who prayed; 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
