Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
