The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has there come on man a while of time when he was a thing unremembered? 1 We have created the human from a (sperm) drop, a mixture, testing him; We made him to hear and see. 2 Surely We showed him the Right Path, regardless of whether he chooses to be thankful or unthankful (to his Lord). 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains and shackles and a burning fire. 4 Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. 5 A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]. 6 [The truly virtuous are] they [who] fulfil their vows, and stand in awe of a Day the woe of which is bound to spread far and wide, 7 They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, 8 "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. 9 Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. 10 But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy. 11 And their recompense shall be Paradise, and silken garments, because they were patient. 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they will find there neither (heat of) a sun nor bitter cold. 13 And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. 14 Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them 15 (Bright as) glass but (made) of silver, which they (themselves) have measured to the measure (of their deeds). 16 And they shall be given to drink from a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 From a fountain therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- 19 And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion. 20 On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. 21 (And it will be said to them): "Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavour has been accepted." 22
