The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and a few from later times. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 Gushing water, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virginal, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 for those on the Right, 38
