The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 Then where are you going? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
