Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Reality! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 The Thamud and the Ad denied the (possibility of a) sudden calamity, calling it false. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He punished them with a strong punishment. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 I was certain I'll be given my account." 20 So he shall be in a pleasing life 21 in a high Garden, 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in days past. 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 Nor known whatever was my reckoning! 26 How I wish my death had ended all. 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 Roast him in Hell, 31 then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 Therefore he has not here today a true friend, 35 nor any food except foul pus 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
