Messengers, eat what is wholesome and do good deeds: I am well aware of what you do. 51 Your religion is but one religion -- and I am your only Lord, therefore, fear Me. 52 But the people divided their religion among them into sects - each faction, in what it has, rejoicing. 53 Therefore leave them in their overwhelming ignorance till 54 Deem they that in the wealth and sons wherewith We enlarge them. 55 have no other purpose except to help them in acquiring material benefits? No indeed. But they do not understand. 56 Those who tremble in fear of their Lord, 57 and those who believe in the signs of their Lord 58 Who do not associate any one with their Lord, 59 who give, whatever they give in charity, with their hearts trembling at the thought that they are destined to return to their Lord; 60 It is these who race for the good deeds, and they are foremost in them [e.g. offering the compulsory Salat (prayers) in their (early) stated, fixed times and so on]. 61 And We charge no soul except [with that within] its capacity, and with Us is a record which speaks with truth; and they will not be wronged. 62 But their hearts are in ignorance of this (Koran); and they have deeds besides that which they are doing. 63 But when We will strike with torment those (unbelievers) who are rich, they will start to cry for help. 64 Supplicate not this day! Assuredly ye will not be helped by Us. 65 My verses were recited to you, but you turned upon your heels, 66 “Priding yourself in serving the Sacred Mosque; at night you utter indecent stories in it, while discarding the truth.” 67 Is it then that they do not ponder over what is said, or is it that there has come to them that which did not come to their fathers of old? 68 Or is it that they have not recognized their Apostle, so that they deny him? 69 Or do they say, "He is possessed"? Nay, he has brought them the Truth, but most of them hate the Truth. 70 But if the truth were in accord with their own likes and dislikes, the heavens and the earth would surely have fallen into ruin, and all that lives in them [would long ago have perished]! Nay, [in this divine writ] We have conveyed unto them all that they ought to bear in mind: and from this their reminder they [heedlessly] turn away! 71 Are you asking them for something? What Allah has given you is the best. He is the Best of providers. 72 Indeed you are calling them to a Straight Path, 73 And most surely those who do not believe in the hereafter are deviating from the way. 74 ۞ And even were We to show them mercy and remove whatever distress might befall them [in this life,] they would still persist in their overweening arrogance, blindly stumbling to and fro. 75 And already We overtook them with chastisement, but they were not submissive to their Lord, nor do they humble themselves. 76 until We open before them a gate of harsh punishment and then they will be dumbfounded. 77
