Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 And the night when it departs, 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 A warning to mankind, 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 in Gardens they will question 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 "Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor); 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 running away from a lion? 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
