The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 I have now warned you of the Blazing Fire, 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 But save him who fears 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, 19 Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
