The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ AlifLaamRa. Those are the verses of the Book, the Clear Koran. 1 Oft times would those who disbelieve fain that they had been Muslims. 2 Leave them to feast and revel, beguiled by hope; they will come to know soon. 3 Never did We destroy a population that had not a term decreed and assigned beforehand. 4 No people can hasten or delay the term already fixed for them. 5 They say: "O thou to whom the Message is being revealed! truly thou art mad (or possessed)! 6 Why do you not bring to us the angels if you are of the truthful ones? 7 We do not send the angels but with truth, and then they would not be respited. 8 then they would not be respited. It is We who have sent down the Remembrance, and We watch over it. 9 We sent messengers before you to the previous peoples, 10 And never came there unto them a messenger but they did mock him. 11 This is how We cause the hearts of the guilty ones to behave. 12 They do not believe in it, and indeed the example of the former people has already passed. 13 And if We open for them a gate in the heavens, to ascend it through the day – 14 They would surely say: intoxicated have been our sights; aye! we are a people enchanted. 15
