The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? 4 on a fateful Day. 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 when them passed them by winking at one another, 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
