The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
