He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and in awe [of God] 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 How We pour water in showers 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 to yield therein corn, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 olives, dates, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
