The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ [The time of] their account has approached for the people, while they are in heedlessness turning away. 1 Never does a new reminder come to them from their Lord but they listen to it with dalliance. 2 their hearts set on passing delights; yet they who are [thus] bent on wrongdoing conceal their innermost thoughts [when they say to one another,] "Is this [Muhammad] anything but a mortal like yourselves? Will you, then, yield to [his] spellbinding eloquence with your eyes open?" 3 The Prophet said: my Lord knoweth the word in the heavens and the earth, and He is the Hearer, the Knower. 4 They have said, "It, (the Quran), is only the result of some confused dreams. He is only a poet. He should show us some miracles, as the ancient Prophets had done." 5 There did not believe before them any town which We destroyed, will they then believe? 6 And We sent not before you (O Muhammad SAW) but men to whom We inspired, so ask the people of the Reminder [Scriptures - the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel)] if you do not know. 7 Nor did We make them bodies that ate no food, nor were they immortal. 8 Then We fulfilled for them the promise, and We saved them and whom We willed and destroyed the transgressors. 9 We have revealed a Book to you which is admonition for you. Will you not then understand? 10
