The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
