The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the Great News 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
