The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is overthrown, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 that hide, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
