Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
