The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruits numberless, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those of the right hand. 38
