He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And he feareth 9 you pay him no heed. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 uplifted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And olives and palms 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
